Assunta Albanese trained in Medicine and Paediatrics at the University of Florence (Italy). She was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Child Health and Great Ormond Street Hospital (London) for three years. Her postgraduate thesis was based upon “Constitutional Delay of Growth and Puberty”.
In 1999, she was appointed as Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology at St George’s Hospital and at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust where she runs the late effect endocrine service for oncological children. Dr Albanese also provides endocrine support to the haematological/oncological late effect at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Her clinical practice includes general endocrinology, with a particular interest in disorders of growth and puberty, diabetes insipidus and hyponatraemia and endocrine late effects of cancer and its treatment.
