Dr Perkin is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant in the largest paediatric allergy service in Europe, at St Thomas’ Hospital. He is one of a small number of highly specialised paediatric allergists working exclusively in the area of paediatric allergy. His special research interest is in trying to understand why increasing numbers of children are developing allergies. He is the co-principal investigator on a world leading study to try to prevent infants developing food allergies and other allergic diseases (www.eatstudy.co.uk).
Dr Perkin is happy to accept consultations on the full spectrum of atopic and allergic disorders in children. These include food, aero-allergen, drug and venom allergies and allergen triggered asthma, eczema and hay fever. Sublingual immunotherapy is an exciting therapeutic option now available for significant hay fever. Skin prick testing and lung function measurements can be performed as well as food challenges to determine whether food allergies have been outgrown.
Dr Perkin also holds private clinics at the Nuffield Hospital in Guildford: to make an appointment please contact his Practice Manager, Lynn Etherton at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0207 042 1835, fax 0207 042 1836, or visit the website: www.childrensallergies.co.uk
