Dr Teck Khong qualified from University of Dundee, and subsequently completed his MD doctorate research and specialist training at St George’s Hospital Medical School in London UK. He is a recognised specialist in General Medicine, in Clinical Pharmacology (safe and effective use of medicines) and also in Hypertension. He was appointed as Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Physician in 2006 at St George’s Hospital Medical School. He is fully registered with the General Medical Council and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
Dr Khong currently works as a General Physician and a specialist in Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease. He is a European Society of Hypertension (ESH) accredited specialist in hypertension (one of very few in the UK) and sees over 2000 hypertension-related consultations a year including routine out-patient as well as urgent and emergency in-patient cases. At St George’s, he co-runs the in-patient Cardiovascular Medicine team and also the Blood Pressure Unit, which is an Accredited Centre of Excellence in Hypertension. Research from his group won the British Hypertension Society Young Investigator’s Prize in 2010. He is responsible for the Local NHS Guidelines on the Management of Medical Emergencies, is editor of the associated publication – the Grey Book, and has written a textbook on cardiovascular treatments, “Drugs in Cardiology”.
